  2. Measurement using BIM (5D) BIM

5D BIM refers to intelligent linking of individual 3D components with cost-related information. This makes it possible for project stakeholders to visualise the final product and understand all that is included in the budget. During the construction stage, the BIM model can be colour-coded to show actual progress on site and used for progress payment.
SISV QSBAR is given to design consultants as a guide to model the BIM and allows the Quantity Surveyor to make full use of the model, giving a detailed cost breakdown structure of the elemental attributes and geometry required within a BIM, the model of which is aligned to the SMM 2. This also allows the Quantity Surveyor to extract quantities to complete a series of cost estimates for various designs at an early design phase of the project.
